TWO positions (PhD student and post-doc) in advanced optical techniques to study myopia atLO.UM, Murcia, Spain, funded by "MyEuropia" a Research Training Network of the European Union.

The "Laboratorio de Optica de la Universidad de Murcia" (LO.UM) is one of the world leaders research groups in visual optics and biomedical applications of Adaptive Optics. The lab is based in a new building and equipped with state of the art technology for advanced experiments: deformable mirrors, spatial light modulators, femtosecond lasers... This provides an excellent training opportunity for students and post-docs. The student will carried out research projects in Visual Optics or Adaptive Optics for the eye for the application of a better understanding of the optical properties of the myopic eye.

Candidates should have a background in Physics, Optics, Electrical engineering or a related topic. Candidates with backgrounds in Biology or Pschology interested in advanced technologies could also be considered. Being fluent in Spanish is not a requirement. The salary of the student will be in accordance with EU and University of Murcia rates. Estimated start date: From January 2007.
